Yea, the music scene is NOTHING like Atlanta. I was shocked to see it, but I have had some luck hooking up with a younger band that is really good. Good luck with your circulation problems. Hey, we ain't getting any younger!~ I have all kinds of aches and pains these days, not to mention no hair.:(. Keep in touch.

Hey man, Sorry to hear about your circulation problems. You're righrt it's hell gettin old. I just spent a couple of days in the hospital last week myself with pneumonia. I'm back on the streets again this week though. I hope you're feeling better soon. I haven't been doing any playing since Pat left town and moved back to Memphis. Great to hear from you. Get well soon.
Man this is like old home week. I've been getting in touch with all you old timers like me. I just talked to Bobby Donaldson the other night. I just put a bunch of old videos on YouTube and he was in several. He said he was gonna send me some vhs tapes from when he played with you and Randy. I'm gonna put them on DVD and stick em on YouTube.
Drop me a line and let me know what you're up to these days.
Rick
Hey Greg:
Got your message. Yeah, the work scene as far as playing, has been slow!!!!! I'm playing with six or seven bands just to try to keep working.
If I hear of anything I'll let you know. Bobby
We met when I played keys with Donna Hopkins some years back at Fuzzy's--always admired and enjoyed your playing. Need some new gigs, just lost a couple of steady weeknights. Keep me in mind--solo or band--will pay commission for anything that clicks.

actually it was for my cd release party exactly 9 years ago yesterday? you and ned played and the gig was at celebrity rock cafe. oh, i went by Mel'N for that cd.
Hey Bobby, Bobby Gaines here.....ran across your "thang" and thought I'd say hey Bob, wattup? Long time (a few years, at least.) Anyway, hope you're doing well. work has ground to a stop here in SC....these fuel prices are killing everyone. David Ball had to cancel his Spring/ Summer tour due to the $6 a gal rip-off for deisel in Nashvegas, with a Prevost tour bus that gets 6 mpg.......do the math...and David ain't the draw he used to be.....Nashville can eat ya' up pretty fast if the hits quit coming. After his last CD, "Freewheeler" came out, it did OK....he had a couple that crossed into the top 20....and that was about it. So he decides to do a "pure country" CD (as opposed to the re-hashed Lynyrd Skynyrd you hear on country radio today. Not that I listen to country radio, but, playing with Ball for 7 years, I got to try and keep an ear on the R/R Tracks, ya' know!) It came out GREAT!.....the best country singer in Nashville for my money.....the name of the CD is "Heartache by the Numbers"......he recorded it with all of the old time mics on some of the acoustical instruments, and of course, Neuman U-whatever on his vocals, recorded to analog, transfered to digital to make the "clean -ups' w/ Pro-Tools, and then transfered back to stereo analog tape and didn't master a thing, just got great recordings and went straight to CD. If you listen close, it is warmer and fatter, and not as sterile as the junk there putting out these days........Mission accomplished! He did what he set out to do.........So, he releases the CD...it got "People" magazines 'pick of the week', great reviews from the people whose reviews matter, and, he sent me a copy, and I was pleasantly surprised. It is a "cry in you beer" CD, which was his intention. I believe it is mostly covers (very unusual for Ball.......he don't like to share them bucks.......he's so tight he squeaks when he walks! ), and, in speaking to him about it, he's very satisfied with the way it came out (The OVERALL). Now, he has the buying public, 1/2 who have never heard of David Ball, or if they have, it's always "Oh, now I remember, he's the guy who sang 'Drankin' Problem".........Yep, that's him! Anyway, his CD (Heartaches) came out, had 1 song that reached #17, then fell off the charts like a rock! Oh well!
So, due to the diesel prices ( and no hit on his new CD ), I am now looking for a spring/summer/fall gig. If you know of anybody looking for a guitarist, my passports good, ( I have no problem getting into Canada, and I travel well and usually get along with everybody (unless you've got the guy whose griping ALWAYS outways his playing.) Don't run into them as much as we used too......but, their still out there! Anyway, sorry for taking up so much of your time......but if you hear of ANYTHING (paying decent), I'm the man! I'm playing little pick-up gigs here and there, and practicing my a$$ off. You can e-mail me at my personal e-mail, which is
bgaines59@charter.net..........I've gotta run, I actually have a session today in Easly, SC @ 10am........so I'm outta hear. If you hear of something, throw the ol' dawg a bone....Thanks Bobby M, Bobby G. (the Oral Roberts!) Signing Off!!!!!!!! L8R my brother!
