So Spike Lee has once again opened his mouth and shoved his good sense in. Should we countenance his statements about "coonery and bufoonery as regards Perry's movies?"
Here's the deal, we get the movies that we want. How? Well, when Tyler Perry's first Ma'dear movie came out, if it were not such a hit and if thousands had not voted for it, with their attendance at the theatres, how many more Ma'dear movies do you think Tyler would have produced.
Here's another thing. In times of crisis, economic downturn or wars, Americans want to escape. We want to laugh. We don't want to be reminded about the woeful state of our lives and country.
And another, another thing. Perry produces comedies, and Spike produces dramadies. And both produce jobs for black actors, engineers and craftsmen.
Leave it along Spike. Do what you do and let Perry do what he does and stop looking over at his bottom line, cause ain't it ultimately just jealousy.
