About Me
im a guitarist/musician /tutor from new Zealand who came here to get married and have been playing and connecting with many people through out my time here. Always looking to hook up with good musicians who love their craft. Im available to fill in, record on albums, and teach guitar bass and music theory.
born in wanganui, New Zealand phil became intrigued with the arts at a young age. His first band was a rockabilly three piece doing elvis presley sun record songs. Then a bit later Phil joined a 9 piece showband playing jazz standards and popular tunes, as a rythym guitarist and in a very short time took over as the lead guitarist. Phil was active in the theatre working alongside actors and musicians, and eventually left his hometown for the big smoke of Auckland to further persue his music, as well as doing some commercials with a local agency. At the age of 17 Phil landed the job of playing guitar with the legendary Tui Teka who was a household name in New Zealand at that time. Phil also became a backing musician to many of the stars, and got to play alongside names like Joe walsh, Ron laprette, ex commodores, Maurice Greer legendary drummer from Human Instinct, and many others. Phil developed a passion for good music and a standard of excellence. He had an uncle who was a pro drummer and who worked alongside many big names who inspired Phil to work tirelessly to be the best musician he could posibly be. Unfortunately Clive Cavanagh died too early, in his life from emphesemia, but Phil has not given up the persuit. He has worked with so many different artists some famous and others not. He has recorded on numerous albums and played guitar on a 14 song album with the Tauranga Big Band where Phil was living before relocating to Atlanta. During Phils short time in the USA he has managed to meet and play with some great musicians both on stage and in the studio. Phil has played classical, rock, blues, soul, funk, jazz, reggae, latin, country, gospel, hip-hop and worship both traditional and contemporary. Phil is now living in marietta with his wife and is available for live shows, sessions, and private instruction in guitar, bass, and music theory.

The gig went really well, I was a little surprised at the level of enthusiastic response, since they don't normally hear much jazz.., although we really mixed it up, from Trane to Marley, Shorter to Hall & Oates, & some jazzed up Classic Rock to spice up the gumbo.... If we are back there anytime soon, I'll let you know...
And Spencer (Bean) & Tak (Nakazawa) really kicked butt.

Phil - thanks for the message. Our church just had a major cut back in musicians. Sorry I cannot offer anything. If I hear of something, I'll let you know. Peace, Kevin.
