I began my full time music career in 1978. (I had 12 years of paid part time experience before that.) I play piano, guitar, and tenor banjo and sing. On stage I will play guitar and/or keys and/or banjo, depending on the gig requirements.
I have been leading Jazz groups here in Atlanta since 1980. I also have lots of experience as a sideman and as a solo player.
I've worked as a sideman in 60's & 70's cover bands, blues bands, society bands, variety dance bands, and jazz groups (Dixieland, Swing, Big Band, Standards, Bebop, and Jazz/Rock) as well as country and bluegrass groups. I've played reading gigs and shows, too. (I read better on guitar than I do on piano.) I even played a few dueling pianos gigs. (Don't hate me...I needed the money!)
I have tons of experience playing solo as well. I play solo gigs on all 3 instruments, with or without vocals. I have a large repertoire of jazz standards, 50's 60's 70's, and blues. I sing enough country rock and bluegrass to get through a gig, but I do not claim to have an expert's repertoire there.
As a player, I have a great feel, a good ear, thorough musical knowledge and excellent technical skills. My rhythm is solid and groove oriented. I believe I also have good time (Drummers don't seem to hate me). In a band, I'm a very strong soloist on guitar and banjo, and a decent soloist (if not killer) on keys.
I plan to keep making music until they carry me out. I hope that you and I will get a chance to do it together sometime soon. Thanks for everything, Atlanta!

That could turn into more gigs for you come next fall-winter. It's such an easy gig too. Be sure to either bring a good clip lamp for your mic stand or go down the hall and grab a floor lamp. It's pitch dark in there. The format will most likely change to one man bands on the patio just outside the bar....probably not as much sing-a-long but more background/possible dancing etc. I did that once for them too.
RIP Dale E.
