About Me
Mike Haid is a drumming veteran of stage and studio in many musical styles. He began his professional drumming career at age eighteen, touring the United States for several years before relocating to Los Angeles. His eclectic talents have led him down many interesting and diverse paths. As a skilled session drummer and composer, he has won several awards from the Billboard Songwriters Contest. From California to Florida, his original music has received major national radio airplay. He was the very first drummer to be featured in the New Blood column of DRUM! Magazine, and appears regularly in Modern Drummer Magazine as a contributing writer and player. He has performed and/or recorded with some of the worlds most accomplished musicians which include, Ray Gomez (Stanley Clarke), Oscar Cartoya (Spyro Gyra), Steve Wood (Kenny Loggins), Kirk Covington (Tribal Tech, Allan Holdsworth, Joe Zawinul), Adam Nitti (Steven Curtis Chapman), David T. Chastain, Michael Harris (Leviathan Records), Kurt Mitchell (Isaac Hayes), Tom Gire (Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Trevor Rabin), Sam Skelton, Tom Grose, Ike Stubblefield, Steve Cunningham, Francisco Fattoruso and the legendary Col. Bruce Hampton (Aquarium Rescue Unit).

Mike has performed on countless recordings as a session drummer. He has played publicly and privately in every imaginable live performance situation ranging from thousands of sports fans at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, to such private and intimate functions as an exclusive family gathering for celebrity Ed McMahon at his Beverly Hills home the day after the historic final taping of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Mike is a graduate of the world-renowned Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA and has taught drumming for many years as a private instructor. He is also creator/publisher of FUSE Magazine. He developed FUSE magazine (the worlds only fusion music publication), which on his own, created a national distribution of over twenty thousand and became the premier fusion music web site on the Internet for several years.

After being highly involved in the music community of Los Angeles for fifteen years, Mike relocated to Atlanta. He has spent the past several years involved with independent public relations for international indy record companies including Discipline Global Mobile (King Crimson, Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford), Escapade (Joe Zawinul, Bill Evans) and Heads Up (Joyce Cooling, Joe McBride). He is also a respected music journalist with his works having been published in such acclaimed music publications as JazzTimes, MIX, Downbeat, Modern Drummer, DRUM!, and Music Connection.

As a music journalist, he has interviewed a who’s who of music legends including Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, John Patitucci, Airto, Terry Bozzio, Dave Weckl, Simon Phillips, Louie Bellson, Bill Bruford, Steve Smith, Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew, to name just a few. Mike is also a photographer, sound engineer and graphic designer. He performs publicly in the Atlanta area and operates his home studio where he records drum tracks for artists around the world.

From Pop to Be Bop, Contemporary Christian to Big Band Jazz, Metal, Prog, Rock, Blues, Funk, Country Western, Gospel, Jam Band, Avant Garde Improv, Mike’s solid, in-the-pocket-grooves have earned him A-List status as a seasoned first-call drummer on the Atlanta music scene.

Don Mack Memorial

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to thank all of the special folks that were instrumental in putting together the Don Mack Memorial last night. What a great turnout to remember, honor and celebrate the life and times of one of Atlanta's great guitarist/vocalists and beautiful human beings.

I met and became reacquainted with many of Atlanta's great, longtime players. It was so wonderful to see the love, camaraderie and talent being spread by so many caring individuals. It was a very special moment w… Continue

Farewell, My Friend!! Don Mack RIP

I felt an empty place open in my heart today when I heard the saddening news of the passing of the great, longtime Atlanta musician, Don Mack. I moved to Atlanta 13 years ago, and the first gig I played with The Class Act Band included two of the finest musicians (an human beings) I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Those great players were Ken Gregory and Don Mack. They didn't really know me at all, yet treated me with kindness, respect and a loving spirit that continues to this day.… Continue

There's all sorts of fun that could be had with that! :) I'm ready to have your energy pop me on the head too, so lets make that happen. I would love to come see you perform.
