I've always been impressed with " The Section " You Know... all of the James Taylor and Jackson Brown stuff etc. As far as bass players I like ...there are several .. James jamerson and Duck Dunn were big in my life during the late sixties and early seventies. Motown, Stax, and Muscle Shoals tunes are alot of fun for a bass player. I've had the L-5 for 3 or 4 years . It's great but more guitar than I need . I bought it to play a while and then make a couple of bucks off of . It is presently at
Grinning Elk Music Co. FOR SALE . www.grinningelk.com
The old 1955 Gretsch New Yorker you saw in my photos is a great little jazz guitar . I just amuse myself with a few old Standards such as Star Dust, Misty, The Shadow Of Your Smile, Over The Rainbow , and a few more that I've halfway forgotten so the New Yorker is fine for me.
At least I could sleep at night if something happened to it.
The L5 has an ebony wood interchangeable pick guard that comes with it with a Kent Armstrong single coil . It has thumbwheel pots and an indescreet mini -switch that lets the player select the resistance between 7 K and 11 K . ( It is in the case ) . I never found a need for it as the natural tone of this guitar is really beautiful and i just play around the house. The guiitar also has a Buzz Fieten tuning system ...installed by Don Dunlavey 7-471-4620 . All original parts
( bridge etc. ) have been retained and can be 100% original . Made by Jim Triggs at Gibson in Nashville in 1991 .
