Well folks, it feels like I’m living my life in a strange parallel universe as I will turn 50, on Nov 4th. Every day I hear the news relentlessly chanting the countdown on every station (for the election, mind you) but the excitement is about to kill me (ha!)
Looking back on the past 50 years, it’s been one helluva ride. I started playing piano at 3 yrs old and my father was a fabulous jazz pianist who took a lot of time playing musical games with me every night after dinner and making the pian…

I got the chance to put the new connections I've made off of this site to work last Saturday night. Somehow I overlooked the fact that I had an extra spot on the band stand and so at the last minute, I invited Jeffrey "Jefwah" Vaughn (percussionist) to join my band in Athens and it made for a marvelous evening. Of course the amazing blues skies, nice cool temps, fresh air (and hand picked strawberries) were intoxicating on their own :-)
I always seem to have such good luck when bringing new fol…

Boy, I'm wiped out today. I took my band to Birmingham last night and we had a great gig but the trip back was horrendous. It was raining monsoons and the highway was an incredibly dark and bumpy road with massive construction for miles and miles. I drive an E-250 cargo van, and I can tell you it was harrowing driving down a one lane highway with two concrete retaining walls inches away from each side of me. Yeeeooow! My eyes were bugging out of my head and wiggling and I still had two hours to…

Ahhh, nice weather we're having here..don't you agree? My husband & I took a cruise down to Sandy Springs in our convertible tonight and we fell into a place called KC BBQ. I couldn't believe it, there was a live band at 6:00pm on a Thursday. I had the unexpected pleasure of getting to hear Cooper Tisdale and his trio (the BBQ was quite good I might add). He had a great sound, a lot of jazzy, rockish instrumentals...some retro Jimmy Hendrix tossed in with a little laid back R&B. What I n…

I'm sure many of you are as amazed as I am at how your GPS is cutting your gig travel time down. Tonight I routed mine to avoid 75
AND Cobb Parkway on Friday at 5:45pm and it took me on a lovely traffic-free trip through cute little white picket fenced neighborhoods and I made it home in 20 minutes instead of 45.
Now I tell you, my first experience was harrowing. I was trying to get up to a wedding venue in Dahlonega and my husband was barking orders, "turn here, turn here...TURN HERE #$…
