Profile Information

Cindy Lou Harrington is an accomplished singer/songwriter with five independent albums and a long list of professional performance credits, including multiple performances of the National Anthem for the Atlanta Braves, opening act performances for acclaimed artists such as Sawyer Brown, Kathy Mattea, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Neal McCoy. Harrington currently works with the Lowery Group of Music Publishers and GOC Music, Inc. Off-stage, Harrington's audience consists of disabled students, many of whom have had a major impact on her music. She has a dual degree from Florida State University in Education for Students with Vision Impairments and Orientation and Mobility for the Blind, and has been a special education teacher in Georgia for 25 years, three years with Fulton County and 22 years with DeKalb where she currently works as an itinerant teacher at eight DeKalb County Schools. Music has gone hand-in hand with her teaching, and she has received numerous awards, including one from the Tommy Nobis Center for Disabled, the Council for Exceptional Children, the Atlanta Association for Developmental Disabilities, and Civitan-Georgia’s “Big Heart Award.” Harrington credits her work with disabled children as the inspiration for the song she wrote called "Let Me Win," which was performed at the 1996 Paralympic Torch Ceremonies and is used statewide as an anthem for Georgia’s Special Olympics. Harrington's current project is with her daughters, Brittany and Taylor. “The family trio brings to mind a smooth, acoustic-rock version of Wilson Phillips, with complex vocal harmonies and groove-driven musical arrangements.” (B. H. Woods, Freelance Writer, Billboard Magazine, AJC). "Known for their powerful live shows, strong-harmony arrangements, and extraordinary songwriting, the Harringtons’ rich vocals are supported by a full band of top studio musicians. They are scheduled to appear on June 7, 2008 as part of Roswell’s Riverside Sound Concert Series. The group includes award-winning singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist, Cindy Lou Harrington, who is joined on stage by her two daughters, Brittany and Taylor. Their family-blend harmonies are reminiscent of Wilson Phillips or the Andrews Sisters, with complex vocal arrangements closer to the Eagles and Manhattan Transfer. Their original songs have already landed them a publishing and independent record deal with the Lowery Group, famous for producing the Atlanta Rhythm Section. As a family of writers, their songs are written from personal life experiences, and their newest songs, written by Brittany and Taylor, will be featured on their upcoming album which is scheduled for a CD-release performance at Eddie’s Attic on September 19, 2008. So far, the Harringtons’ songs have received recognition and top honors, including awards from the Georgia Music Industry Association, the Songwriters Guild, and the Southeast Independent Music World Series. Their original-music, opening-act shows have received rave reviews at top southeast regional venues which have included Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, Nashville’s Wild Horse Saloon, Wild Bill’s Country Showcase, and notable Atlanta songwriter rooms, Eddie’s Attic and Smith’s Olde Bar."

Hey Cindy Lou,

We met some years back when I first came to Atlanta--I got wrapped up in other stuff and we never gigged--been working mostly solo (for steady money) but I've lost a couple of regular nigts, am looking again. Keep me in mind.

Best wishes
