Bob Cardone Pianist-Keyboardist- Band Leader
Bob Cardone started his musical career in New York City, where he grew up. Frequenting Jazz Clubs in his late teens like Birdland, The Five Spot, Village Vanguard, Basin Street East, The Village Gate, had Bob hooked on Jazz very quickly , even after 12 years studying Classical Piano. Listening to groups live, like Miles, Monk, Cannonball, Art Blakey, Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, sometimes several times during the week, was invaluable in helping Bob to develop a music style of his own.
Bob then moved to the Catskill Mountains for 10 years, and played in several house bands with many great musicians and entertainers that frequented that circuit. Jack Jones, Gregory Hines, Kai Winding, Billy Daniels, to name a few. Bob played six nights a week in the rhythm section that backed Marlena Shaw, and Adam Wade for over year, in the Concord lounge which held 3,500 people.
Bob switched to playing the Hammond B-3 in organ duos and trios by this time, and became addicted to playing his own bass lines.. Bob studied with Jymie Merritt, Art Blakey's long time bass player, to learn the art of playing real bass lines on the B-3. For about 5 years, Bob was joined by Bey Perry on drums, in his Organ group. Bey was the drummer on Jimmy Smiths first album. Bob currently plays key bass on most of the gigs that he plays today. Bob utilizes a Roland 88 note master keyboard rig, with full stereo amplification , plus two top of the line Roland and Yamaha , tone modules ( one of which is a Hammond B-3 Module) controlled by midi which is the equivalent of 3 stereo keyboards. Most of the music samples on Bob's web site, and this site, are created using this exact Keyboard setup.
Bob then moved to the Miami area, where he played in Variety Bands for 2 of the busiest offices in Miami. From Salsa, to Rock and Pop, to Broadway shows, to Country, all styles were needed by the groups that Bob steadily performed with.
Bob moved to Atlanta, in 1985, and has since worked with some of the Major Private Party Variety Bands in the Atlanta area , as well as his own Band. Bob's favorite type of gig, is backing vocalists, and playing good music.

You were cookin last night. Most of the gigs I play now, I am playing Left hand Bass on, which I enjoy, but it is also great to play with a great bass player like Craig Shaw and you on drums....Looking forward to playing with you again!!
You sound great . Please keep me in mind if you ever need a drummer.
