Georgia Music Industry Association is hosting a workshop on Songwriting Tips & Song Critique session Sun May 31st 2-6pm at The Yellow House on Green St next to the Swallow at the Hollow in Roswell. Bring a notepad, and a song (cd or play live) with 3+ lyric sheets. See GMIA.org to register. Plan on having fabulous lunch &/or dinner at the Swallow at the Hollow or Greenwood's for down home southern cooking. Hope to see you there!

I am not prolific, but I have written some decent stuff (according to the hearers). I know people who just have a day or night a week to "write". I have to be inspired or it comes out cheesy.

I have lots of really good music (acoustic guitar & piano-based stuff) that I need lyrics for. I am hearing deep spiritual but not religious profundity... Any ideas?

Time to get writing lots of tunes everybody. Collaborating and such is always a good way to inspire.

Hi Jeni, Hi everyone. I just write jazz music, no big deal. I'm a big supporter of the idea that Atlanta needs more original jazz music.

I too would love to hook up with someone for the purpose of collaborating and making music. I tend to be lyric-oriented and need some fresh ideas melodically and chord structure wise. I have co-written in the past and have several lyric ideas in my journal/lyric book.

Hope everyone has a never-ending flow of creativity and inspiration. I just hope to write my "Imagine" one day.....

Peace and great grooves to all,
George

Jeni, I really like India Arie too....hi , everyone! I just kind of barged in on your conversation. I am new to this site...Going back to India Arie, it's true, she talks about all different kinds of things in her songs, not just lovey-dovey-mushy stuff and what's nice about her is that it sounds so effortless coming from her....no need to hit all these crazy high notes and so, it's about sending out a message, more about the words than anything else.

This group represents and excellent idea. songwriting is
the life blood of the industry and there's plenty to say
as an artist even while we chase that possible hit song.
Needless to say, the WORD is still very powerful when
used well. Congrats to all those who aspire to write meaningful material.
