Michael, Good point. There has to be a safe way to collaborate. I was thinking if as a required step to join any given OC group if someones idea is turned down he/she has agreed to seek no remedy concerning that submission, or some kinda work around this problem. Friend or Stranger, I think a binding agreement, before starting any project, prevents hostile litigation. It also enables artist to relax knowing they can reach deep in their gift.
blasa blasa

Lew, those are good guide lines and I think probably sufficient for working with someone who's known to you as a credible writer.
Getting into a contractual situation with someone you are not sure can produce could be risky. They might end up being better litigators than they are writers. I'm just suggesting to everyone to know who you are getting involved with. Have them send you no more than 60 seconds of some things they have for sure written.
Any more than 60 seconds and you risk the possibility of them suing you for copyright infringement if they think you stole what they sent you.
This is advice from a publishing lawyer, not from me, for what it's worth.
I don't want to cast a pall on anyones collaboration efforts.
It's just better to be safe, blah blah.

Melissa, I don't know ,off hand, of any specific software that would take care of those tasks. You might be able to use Microsoft Office
or something similar to create spread sheet type pages to note
project details.
I'll keep an eye out though.

Thanks Lewis- aren't you an original "Doobie" Brother"?

In order to join any OC (online collaboration) group the potential member must 1) agree to terms describing artist royalty distribution, as well as sound royalty distribution concerning (but not limited to) ownership, and publishing percentages, for copyright considerations. 2) who arbitrates contribution acceptance and/or decline. Most likely the originator of said collaboration. Acceptance ( by originator of said collaboration ) begins the a fore mentioned binding contractual agreement. Declined defines a state of no entrance, into binding agreement, try again.

Or something

I'm looking for a source for logbooks to document recording projects from beginning to end, designed to include all details from budget to recording settings etc...
Thanks!
