Digital boards such as the Yamaha 01V96 offer alot of signal processing power onboard, and would appear to be good all-in-one solutions for semi-pro live sound. What's your opinion on sound quality VS analog board (such as Mackie) with adequate outboard processing (such as dbx dynamics & eq and lexicon effects)?

Hey Wes
do you still have ?'s regarding the O1V96 ?

i own one and i can assure you that its FAR SUPERIOR than a Mackie

Also, i use the Fosucrite OctoPre LE with the ADAT lightpipe card

that expands my console to a 24 input and added GREAT PRE's that i use on the vocals and Axe's, the drums and Keys are the only thing i normally run into the O1V96

this console is the VERY LITTLE brother of my normal workhorse the PM5D.....and i love em both

Thats cool Schmidty. I have owned a few 01V96s and now run one at the church I attend for the contemporary service. I think its a great mixer with plenty of capabilities, just interested in people's perception of the sonic quality VS a good analog board.. The PM5D is awesome! I am hoping the church will grow into one someday...would be happy with an 02R96V2 too!

I put one (LS9) in at a church (The Rock Church Flowery Branch) that I recently was the Media Director in and it's a fine piece of equipment. The effects section I found wasn't as good as I hoped for but decent. Tons of I/O options. Just learning the "sends on faders" for all parameter changing is as hard as it gets. Sonic wise its a 9.5. All functions are easily accessible via the front panels and you have 10 or 12 assignable buttons for anything for enabling record or anything basicly...Good Choice...

Used 01V96V2 for several years now and completely sold on Yamaha Digital boards - LS9 could only be closer to mixing heaven. Cheers, Wes
