Dr. Michael T. Stechison Comment by Dr. Michael T. Stechison on September 24, 2009 at 9:16am
Greetings. If there happens to be a guitar player with a solid jazz background who is looking for a new opportunity I would love to talk to you. Our bass player is retiring and I was hoping to change our sound a little by getting someone on guitar. This would be a part-time activity for maybe one or two gigs per month. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

Hey Everybody,

Just wanted to let you know about a website I have called Jazzbeat. It's primarily a links site for jazz musicians, educators, etc. to promote their material. Check out the site, and if you have a jazz website and would be interested in exchanging links, drop me a note.

For anyone who's interested there are some great Monk videos on Youtube,
including some complete movies like Clint Eastwoods Straight No Chaser. It's devided up into about ten sections but worth watching. There's also a Mingus movie
that gives a lot of insight into his life and music.

Ahhhh..... it's great to be among the jazzers. You got me with the community AND with Monk's Criss-Cross. Hackensack, Pannonica, Rhythm-A-Ning, come on now!I’ve got Monk’s “The Man I Love” hanging in my studio. The school of Monk is never to be missed in anyone's jazz journey. My nickname in Philadelphia
was "Daronious". For real! That was my most concentrated jazz period while being an acoustic purist. There was so much music happening in Philly and the surrounding area you could take your pick 7 nights a week of really serious sessions. Fast times at Jazzmont High!
