Warning about a local venue Stone Mountain stay away from this one fair warning...

Hey just a friendly and subdued warning to my fellow ATL musicians. A nice ABS member recently asked a local Stone Mountain German restaurant with a bar and stage to host some blues and recommended my act. They called saying could not afford my full rate so I cut them a discount and booked it. Long story short we did an old school style blues duo with two guitars and two vocals and knocked it out of the park. Audience loved it and so did the lady owner until the end when the check was being written by her husband and they began insulting us, trying to start something on the spot and then shorted me on pay. They also made clearly racist comments and gestures with my partner of that evening and I was downright embarrassed just standing there listening. I took my shorted pay and walked but felt anyone playing in the blues genre should be very aware the crosses are still burning in Stone Mountain at this one 35 year old German eatery and honestly the food and service are also bad and the owner is the most insulting, racist grumpy bartender I've ever seen. I'm still a little dazed and amazed by the situation and especially since Stone Mountain is a place I would have thought our act would be treated well. Boy was I dead wrong. ANy comments or questions please send privately as I cannot get into any rants or public slandering of the venue. I just wanted to send a friendly warning to other musicians and avoid more conflicts coming to hard working players that need to avoid idiots.

I too played this venue as a solo acoustic act. The audience loved me as did the staff. The German lady insulted me when I spoke with her on the telephone a few days later. Needless to say I never played there again.

Well they are booking other blues acts I noticed. So they must have somehow managed to hide their issues, maybe my little cursing out did them some good. They are still scumbags though and I would never play there no amount of money.

why hasn't anyone dropped the name of this place? it's kinda like news stories on the net that say, "video of two men beheaded today on a website somewhere out there good finding it!"
