Atlanta Professional Musicians

Connecting Atlanta Musicians

Hi all. I wish Barry RIchman a very speedy recovery and that the benefits are profitable. It is tough I know. I wanted to share a new place I just discovered offering GROUP health insurance especially geared to the musician life. My husband got laid off recently and as of June 1, we were going to be out of insurance. I knew I could get individual policies, but they can charge you outrageously and drop us whenever a problem came up.

But I am a member of the Americana Music Association, they are based in Nashville. They just started offering a way for folks to get group coverage that is pretty economical (as these things go). www.americana.org. It's $35/year for membership for musicians and $75/year for everyone else. They negotiate with the big companies, get you several companies and policies to choose from, and the rate we got was less than what I was paying thru my husband's company! The lovely part is anyone can be a member of Americana and get this deal. Plus it's a great organization to boot.

Hopefully this is useful info to some of you. It totally saved me.

Nancy,

Thanks so much for this great information! I just found the actual link to the website for the Americana healthcare insurance.

Looks very interesting and could be a great help to so many of us who are struggling to find affordable healthcare insurance because we are self-employed.
