Here is a dental discount plan that i think is a good one- it is very inexpensive ( you can pay monthly about $12) and offers some considerable discounts. There is a waiting period if you sign up-FYI-You must sign up before the 19th if you want coverage to start the following month.

www.assurantemployeebenefits.com they have a dental plan for individuals- this is not something i sell- just recommend.

Also If you are in need of a great dentist I have one for you- Dr Daniel Zunitch 770-435-6888 (Dr Z as they refer to him)- he finished dental school one year early and spent that extra year studying dental surgery so he can do procedures that most have to refer out. He has an office in Smyrna and Marietta area but I personally make the trip from Duluth because I think he is that good.

Hope this helps

Say George, this may be right on time for me.... I'm close to Smyrna, so that's a plus, as well. Is Dr. Z a provider covered by your insurance? Also, I checked out the site, but there is zero mention of what kind of costs are involved, Do have a benefits list, or could you share what some of the fees are for fillings, crowns, etc......?

Thanks....

Hi Steven

You probably have to call the 800 number to get a complete listing of cost as there are so many procedures. Dr Z is covered under this plan- not really considered insurance but a discount plan. Dr Z phone number at Manders Dental is 770-435-6888- they may also be able to help get you signed up on the right plan with Assurant and get you fee schedule.

Good Luck- Let me Know

I followed George's excellent advice, and i can tell ya this is the real deal. Dr Z is a great guy and dentist. the fees for services are approximately 1/2 or LESS than normal charges under this pre-pay plan. for instance, a teeth whitening process (brite smile) normally costs about $500.00. this place will do it for $200.00 (i think) as long as you're a member of the assurant employee benefits plan. it's open to anyone to join. as George sez, the monthly co-pay (for the plan) are about $12 or so, but for a family about $18-19. most dental insurance sucks, has a high monthly premium and a low benefit ceiling. so do yourself a huge favor and get your teeth fixed.

Hey, do any of you guys that were fortunate to have already seen Dr. Z, know that he's no longer at the Smyrna office, and know how to contact him, or where he'll be practicing??? I was just about to begin seeing him, and now he's outa there. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.... thanks.

George, Don contacted me and said he moved back to CHATANOOGA!

even though he was doing his dental practice in atl, he's been living in chattanooga for years. from what i understand, the drive was costing him about $150.00 round trip in gas. and i think he had some other issue w/manders management. maybe they didn't wanna disgorge more cash to help him out.

i dunno. but hopefully the replacement dentist will work out well. i have an appointment this coming wednesday to review my charts with her. i have a temporary filling that i need to finish up on, so i gots my fingers crossed.

There is a new dentist Dr Lu-at Manders Dental that took Dr Z's place ( He was driving in every day from Chattanooga-couldn't continue)- I just had some pretty serious work done and she is equally as good I think. Again I highly recommend Assurant Dental -I saved a great deal of money so far.

This is great news, we all need affordable care.

How about health insurance? Blue Cross has been raising mine about 20% per year - they want over $600 a month now, and I have never even made a claim. That's more than my mortgage! Any recommendations there?
